Your First Visit

Welcome! We're an open club and always happy to have new players. Here's what to expect.

When to arrive

Come by 6:45pm. Club nights are Monday and Wednesday, 7:00pm to 10:00pm.

The round robin sign-up closes at 7:15pm. Arriving by 6:45 gives you time to pay, warm up, and get into a group without rushing. If you're running late, text (925) 238-3505 before 7pm and someone will hold your spot.

What it costs

Your first visit is $10. Regular drop-in is $15. Under 18 is always $5. Cash, credit card, Zelle, and Venmo all accepted.

If you end up coming regularly, a membership brings the nightly rate down to $10 and costs $60 per year.

What to bring

• Athletic shoes. The gym requires non-marking court shoes. Street shoes are not allowed on the floor.
• Paddle. Bring your own if you have one. Loaner paddles are available if you don't.
• Comfortable athletic clothes.

How the night works

When you arrive, check in at the front desk, pay, and sign up for the round robin. You'll be placed in a group of 5 or 6 players at roughly your skill level and play everyone in your group once. Each match is best of 5 games, and each game is first to 11, win by 2.

At around 7:30 the round robin will start. Before then, people will be setting up tables and warming up. Don't be afraid to ask a stranger to warm up, it's the best way to meet new people!

The round robin runs until around 9pm. After that, or while waiting between matches, there are often open tables for casual play, doubles, or practice.

Results are recorded and posted online after every session. If you've played in USATT-rated events before, your existing rating will be used to place you. If you're new to rated play, you'll start with a provisional rating based on your first session.

Skill level

All levels are welcome, from complete beginners to competitive players. Groups are formed by rating, so you'll play people near your level. If you've never played before, just say so when you sign up and you'll be placed appropriately.
